I did it. I went for a little jog at lunch. Nothing too long, just 24mins of 1:1 (1 min jog, 1 min walk). My shins seemed to hold up, but the back of my left ankle was starting to tense up near the end. It could have been because the last 1 km + is mostly uphill.
Anyway I look at it, it was a jog and a step in the right direction.
