Manage to run faster today, over a shorter distance and I didn't lose as much on my way back, even though I was feeling tired. I need to pick up my speed some more so that my Average HR is in the proper range for these types of runs.

Amazing

I just had the opportunity to meet Canadian Astronaut Chris Hadfield. I brought my family, including my mother and 2 of my daughters friends along, and we listened to him speak about the Canadian Space program and what it's like living in space. He had a slide show with incredible pictures that just added to his speaking. My son even had the opportunity to go up on stage with him as Chris did some weightlessness demonstrations.

That was an experience I will keep with me for some time. If you ever have the opportunity to meet an astronaut, do so, as they have amazing life experiences to share.

I went out fast and did my first half in 13:32, but then slowed down for the way back as I was feeling it. Overall, a sub 30 5k is great for me.

Because my buddy recently had heart surgery and he's just getting back into running, we tried to keep our pace slow and his HR under 110. For the most part, that was fine, but there were a few times where it did get up. Overall, it was a nice easy run.

I had difficulty getting my HR down, but it was still below my max for the average and my pace was a little faster than yesterday. I do have to say, running after eating is not always the best choice as I kept burping it up during my run. Oh well.

I set my watch to Alert me if my HR went over 158 and it never did. I even managed to run pretty fast (by my standards) in the process. Very good run.

I thought I was pushing hard, but my HR says otherwise. I guess I will need to push harder next time, even though my 2k back was 34 secs slower as I was getting tired.

Spent yesterday helping out at my daughter's school bar-b-q so I didn't get the chance to run. Planning on making it out today for a 4k Tempo.

Went out for my LSD run today but between the fact that I hadn't been up for long enough and it was very warm out there, it wasn't a good run. The only good thing about this run is that my daughters came with me on their bikes, so at least they got some exercise.

Even if I combined my numbers, they weren't good. I know it happens sometimes, but recently my runs have not been good. I didn't think taking a few weeks off after my last half would have this much effect on me. Or maybe it's the fact that I have added a few pounds over the past week. Whatever it is, it needs to change back so that my runs can become enjoyable again.

I was really trying to keep my HR down during my run and for the most part I did. Unfortunately the last half km is up a decent hill and that brought it up. Either way, it was a decent run and it felt better than yesterday's.

As you can see, I don't know my numbers. My calories burned is a best guess as I'm usually burning about 120 calories per KM. I did walk more than was I was suppose to, so it wasn't a good run.

This was my first run in a week, and over the past month I've gained some weight from all the eating in restaurants I've been doing lately. I also went running with my kids, where I was pushing my son in a running stroller, while my girls biked. Put these things together and my results were a bit slow. That also meant my Average HR was lower because I didn't have the energy to go faster. I know I have some work to do to get back into shape, but at least this is a step in the right direction.

A couple of days ago marked the 1 year anniversary of me using my Juicer. Over that year it has helped me lose some weight and become overall healthier. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Another workout

Woke up early this morning and spent 1hr and 5mins on a treadmill. Over that time I burned 722 calories and walked 4.22 miles. It's not quite running, but it's better than doing nothing. Planning on starting my training on Sunday with a 7k run.

Little workout

I'm currently in Baltimore for training and I decided to hit the cardio room early this morning. I managed to get in a 45 minute workout on the treadmill. Nothing spectacular, but I still managed to walk 2.38 miles and burn off 383 calories, AND I feel good about it. I'm planning on doing a longer workout tomorrow morning.

1st run...

... since the Half Marathon (NCHM) and it was OK. I went out with my daughters on their bikes and did 5k. My pace wasn't fast and there was a few times that I had to stop to either help one of my girls, or we were at a traffic light. All in all, it was a decent run, but it won't be counting towards my training for the Army Run Half as I won't run again until next Sunday.

Another Run Challenge

Since I recently completed my 1st Half Marathon this year (should have been 2nd) and my goal is to do 3 this year, I have to start planning for my next run. Don't get me wrong, I will NOT be running 3 half marathons this year, but reaching 2 will be somewhat of a success.

The next Half Marathon I plan to run is the Army Run Half Marathon (ARHM) scheduled for September 19, 2010. Since this is a Nationwide event, I will be running it in Ottawa. From some e-mail exchange with friends, it looks like 2 (and possibly 3) of my close friends will also be running this event.

With this event I need to start training now, but since I'm still in recovery mode, I'm going to wait until after I comeback from Baltimore MD (business trip) before training. This ultimately means that I will be missing the first 2 weeks of training (8 days), but I'm still in decent shape from the last half so I don't expect any problems with my first runs or getting back into it.

My goal for this Half is to set another Personal Best time and to have less training days missed (other than the 8 I have planned).
